SOLAR 2010 Public Day Events

Learn about installing solar energy on your home or business – lower your energy costs, support energy independence, and reduce carbon emissions. Sessions in this track are offered on Public Day – Saturday, May 22, and are included, along with admission to the Exhibit Hall, in your $5 Exhibit Hall registration.

Public Day Events and the Exhibit Hall are located at the Phoenix Convention Center - West Wing, lower level. Take the light rail and avoid traffic and parking fees! The light rail stops at 3rd and Washington - half a block from the West Wing entrance!

Exhibit Hall Hours on Saturday, May 22 are 10:00am to 3:00pm. Everyone MUST register to attend Public Day. Registration will open at 9:30am on Saturday, May 22. To avoid long registration lines, register on-line before you come, and just check in at the registration counters when you arrive.

10:30am to 12:00pm Rekindling American Ingenuity in the Solar Built Environment
Moderator: Kevin Edwards, Edwards Design
This session will discuss solar building design & construction strategies and implementation techniques such as daylighting, passive heating/cooling, active systems integration, and more. We will also review AZ climate zones for bioclimatic design potential.

Resources for a Solar Arizona: Government, Business and Non-Profit Groups

Many organizations promote solar, renewables, and sustainability in Arizona, so it’s not always easy to know what is going. Come learn about Arizona solar and renewable information resources for the public.

2:00pm to 3:30pm Understanding Solar and Renewable Technology: Present and the Evolving Future
Moderator: Jesse Henson, Oculus Solar Design
Attend this session to understand how the technology works and fits into where people live, learn, work, and play. How to incorporate it into both new and the existing buildings.

Back to the Future Part V: Solar Education, Research and Training

This session will present the wide spectrum of educational programs from university research to installation training. Learn about the impact to Arizona's future made by solar and renewable education.
